Since 2013, Fernando has been responsible for all risk mitigation, corporate compliance and government affairs for the Canadian divisions of Nissan and Infiniti. His specialties include labour relations and human resources, franchise and general corporate/commercial law. At Nissan, he heads a team of five legal professionals who provide practical, business-focused advice to executives and management on all legal, regulatory, compliance and strategic management matters.
Fernando has a Master of Industrial Relations (2001), a Civil and Common law degree (2004) and recently completed a Master of Business Administration degree, specializing in Strategic Management (2014). Fernando is also an executive member of the CCCA, Legal Leaders for Diversity and most recently joined the Board of the Pan-American Food Festival and the Toronto Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He is also a finalist for the “Tomorrow’s Leader” category in the Canadian General Counsel Awards organized by the National Post and ZSA (awards to take place in June, 2015).
